Our wind farms in Italy

The joint venture with HelveticWind represented two investments for EKZ Renewables Ltd in Italy.

Wind farm Eolo: Wind power from Apulia

The HelveticWind joint venture acquired its first wind farm in Italy (Apulia) in 2013. The farm has a total capacity of 36 megawatts and is already in operation. All together, the 24 turbines at the Eolo wind farm generate around 67 gigawatt hours of electricity.

Wind farm Cerreto: Acquisition of a wind park in Italy

The cooperation HelveticWind acquired the wind farm in Genzano di
Lucania in Italy (Basilicata) in 2016. The wind farm has a total
installed capacity of 16 megawatts. This is HelveticWind’s second venture in Italy.

The park’s 5 turbines produce around 42 gigawatt hours of electricity per year.

The HelveticWind joint venture

The HelveticWind joint venture was founded in March 2010 by Energie Wasser Bern (ewb) and BKW Energie AG. EBL (Genossenschaft Elektra Baselland), EKZ Renewables Ltd and SN Erneuerbare Energie AG (SNEE) joined in January 2012.

The partners aim to implement a wind energy portfolio with a total capacity of 170 megawatts over the next few years.

ewb and BKW each hold 29% of the company's shares, EKZ Renewables just over 20% and EBL and SNEE just under 11% each.

The activities of HelveticWind will focus on Germany and Italy for the time being.
